In the Auckland "Evening Star" of ths 27th April last appeared the following loooi* which explaiiss itself : — Tho brig Bella Mary, from Melbourne, tt ' ballast, bound for Kaipara, put into harboni yesterday morning to obtain medical aid fot Captain Owen, master of the vessel, who has been very unwell during tho latter part ol the voyage. Captain Owen, who has followed the seafaring profession for many yeara, and had Revsr until leaving Melbourne on April 10th last suffered from illnoss of any severe nature, waa suddenly seized on thai date with violent pains in the b&ck. Sinoe then he has been swung up in a hammook ia the cabin quite helpless. The vessel waa *& Kaipara at noon on Thursday last, but tho weather being thiok and foggy, it waa deemed advisable lo jome oa to Auckland for medietfi assistance. The barque arrivtd early yester* ' day morning, -and Dr Moore having been aenl for, visited Oaptain Owen, and gave inatrno* tionß to the mate of the vessel regarding treats ment. The invalid ia suffering from a speciei of rheumatism of a severe nature, and ths dootor considers it advisable to effeot a partial recovery before attempting the removalof his patient to more suitable quarters on ahore. Oaptain Owen ia well known in AuoklaadU and many residents will be sorry to learn of ) his affliction. Referring to above, Oaptain Owen hai thii day (Ist December) stated : " After being treated for about five weeks by two medioal men successively, with vory little alteratieD in my condition, exoept that the pain in my hande and back waa made somewhat easier through the effect of the galvanio battery, I felt a gradual funking that told me the dread 6 end was not far oir, and one of my visiting frienda BUggestod that I should try Whltt Hitehen's Blosd Beatorer would do, aa it was being ao talked about far and wide. With* out muoh faith ia it, I consented totrriL. but did not notioe any good effeot until X had taken about the third or fourth bottle* When my appetite deoidedly quickened, and I felt that my strength wae coming baok to me. I then ceased to take the medicine, and allowed nature to take ita oourse, but finding my appetite going I stimulated it by small doses of tbe Beatorer, using no other xnedi-* oine, but applying the ointment freely. B*f degreeß my whole system seemed to be inn* gorated ; and now, after a treatment of ns months, I am able to resume oharge of my vessel, and am only waiting her arrival in pert to do so. I oan easily walk four miles a day without the slightest inoonvenienoe. I 3 oonsider my friend's suggestions saved my life, and that it ia a duty that I ahould publicly testify to the extraordinary power ol Hitohen's Blood Bestorer over the severest cases of rheumatism." W. M. OWEN. Tho agents will be happy to shew original 3 manusoripts of the several publiahed tortf* monials anent the Bemedy, with aoorei offothers not yet published. L. D. NATHAN & CO., Auokland.
