A Chinaman named Ah Young waß found murdered, bis head being out open, in his owb house in Little Baurka street. The house was a resort for loose characters of both •axes. A movement is on foot to establish an Ambulance Association, — a branch of the St John's Ambulance, — with the objeofc of dis* geminating elementary surgical knowledge for the treatment of accidents when medical aid is not at hand. Bydhbt. The case of Law t. Brown and another oommenoed at tbe Supreme Court on Monday. Law, formerly manager of tbe Bank of New Zealand, sues J. and A. Brown, merchant?, of Newcastle, for wrongful dismissal. He alleges that he was engaged ag manager for seven years at a salary of £2000 per annum, and was dismissed before the end of one year. In the Assembly on Tuesday an attack was made on the Government administration of the Land Ac* during the last session. It is oonteoded that the result shows a loss of £816,030. A vote of censure waß moved, and the House adjourned. James Duncan haß invented an appliance to obviate the inconvenience of a break of gauge in railways. Truok bodies are to be lifted by a orane on to frames which suit the gauge, the frames running underneath. Tbe new Governor of Western Australia, Mr Napier Broome, has arrived at Free* mantle. Mr Redmond held bis first meeting in St Patrick*! Hall on Tuesday night, Mr Long* more in the chair. Bis speeoh contained little of novelty, and tbe proceedings were orderly. •
