In tho Auokland "Evening Star" of thi 27th April laat appeared the foJlowing local, whioh explains itself :— The brig Bella Mary, from Melbourne, ia ballast, bound for Kaipara, put into harbou* yesterday morning to obtain medioal aid tot Captain Owen, master of the vessel, who ha* been very unwell during the latter part of the voyage. Captain Owen, who has followed the seafaring profession for many years, and had never until leaving Melbourne on April 10th last suffered from illness of aaf severe nature, was suddenly seized on thai dato with violent pains in the baok. Sino* then he has been swung up in a hammook m the cabin quite helpless. The vessel wal off Kaipara at noon on Thursday last, but th* weather being thiok and foggy, it was deemed advisable to oome on to Auokland for mediM? assistance. The b-trque arrived early yerttf* day morning, and Dr Moore having been sent for, visited Captain Owen, and gave uvtroo* tions to the mate of tho vessel regarding treat* ment. The invalid is suffering from a speels* of rheumatism of a severe nature, and tht dootor considers it advisable to effeot a partial recovery before attemptiog the removal of hi* patient to more suitable quarters on shor*. Captain Owen is well known in Auokland, and many residents will be sorry to learn of his affliction. Beferring to above, Captain Owen hai Ihi* day (Ist December) stated : " After bemf treated for about five weeks by two medical men successively, with very little alteratta* in my oondition, except that the pain in my hands and baok was made somewhat eaiur through the offoct of the galvanio battery, I felt a gradual siukinj that told me the dread end *r>as not far off, and one of my visitdnf friends suggested that I should try whrtr Hitehen's Blood Bestorer would do, as it wa* being so talked about far and wide. With* out muoh faith in it, I consented to try & but did not notice any good effect until I bad taken about the third or fourth bottl* when my appetite deoidedly quickened, Mod I felt that my etrength was coming baok to me. I then ceased to take the medicine, and allowed nature to take its course, but findiour my appetite going I stimulated it by small doseß of the Bestorer, using no other mcdi» oine, but applying the ointment freely. By degrees my whole system seemed to be inrU gorated ; and now, after a treatment of ■__ months, I am able to resume charge of my vessel, and am only waiting her arrival in port to do so. I oan easily walk four milt* a day without the slightest inoonvenienoe. I consider my friend's suggestions saved my life, and that it is a duty that I should 1 publicly testify to the extraordinary power of Hitohen's Blood Bestorer over the sevemt oases of rheumatism." W. M. OWEN. The agents will be happy to show original \ manuscripts of the several published testimonials anent the Bemedy, with soores of others not yot published. L. 1). NATHAN k CO., Auokland.
