It is understood that an notion will be immediately commenced in the Supreme Court to compel the Land Board to issue licenses in the recent sale of deferred payment land at Strath-Taieri. DTJNEDIN, May 26. At a special meeting of the Otago Trades and Labour Council held last evening, the invitation of the Council to the city and suburban members to be present was largely responded to. The members addressed the meeting on various subjeots of interest to the individual daises, and were accorded a unanimous vote of thanks. A monster meeting is to be held shortly in Dunedin, when the city and suburban members will be invited to speak.

[SPECIAL TO THB BTAB.J DDNEDIN, May 26. A meeting has been held of the Licensing Committees in Dunedin, at whioh it was agreed that in future no hotel in the city should remain open after 11 p.m., and that the Aot should be strictly administered.
