The New Plymouth Murder Case.
[Fib Psisa Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Not. 7. The Supreme Court ha« been occupied nil day with the trial of Antonio HcLmell, charged with the murder of Matthew Kuolle, at Stratford. Mr Gorett apprared as ami'cus curice for prisoner, who, when called upon to plead, said : " I have murdered him, but it was the fault of a dream." This was taken us a plea of " Not GuilJ.y," and tho trial was then proceeded with. The medical evidence of Pr Boor, of Nekon, was to tho effect thai the man wag of sound mind during the time ho was in Nelson Asylum. The jury retired at five o'clook to consider the verdict, and returned to Court at seven o'clock with a rerdict of guilty. Ihe JurJge, in paßßing sentence of death, said ho agreed with the verdict in point of law, but in hie own mind had doubts r.bout prieoner's sanity at tho lime prisoner did the deed, und he should represent these doubts in tho proper quarter.
