Disastrous Colliery Explosion.
The Occupation of Egypt. fRBUTEB'B Telegrams.] LBeoeived Nov. 8, at 1.40 p.m J LONDON, Nov. 7. A disastrous explosion ocenrred today at Clay Bros colliery in Derbyshire. So far as is at present known thirty miners have been buried in the pit?, and their escape is deemed hopeless, i Sir Stafford Northcote has given notice in the House of Commons that he will, on Friday next, Nov 10, ask the Premier to fix the date for the debate on the question of the occupation of Egypt by the British troops. MELBOURNE, Nov. 8. A private telegram has been received here announcing a considerable advance in kerosene in America. It has been ascertained that the value of the contents of the registered mail bag, stolen on Monday night from the Poßt Office, was £100. The police are still without any clue to the perpetrators of the robbery. Advertisements appear in the Melbourne papers to-day, stating the conditions of the tenders for direct steam service between New Zealand and England. In the Legislative Assembly laßt night, the Loan Conversion Bill was again under consideration. Much opposition was shown to the measure, but it was finally read a second time on a division.
