EXHIBITION RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS.
The Railway Department will make liberal concessions to iiassengers during the Easter holidays and tf.e Exhibition period. Ordinary Bingie-fare tickets issued at any Canterbury station on April 6, 7, 8 and 10 will be available for the return journey to April 12. Excursion tickets to Dunedin and back will be issued at Christchurch and Ashburton— for firat-class passengers at £1 10s ; second-class, £1 ; and at Temuka, Timaru, and Waimate — first-claßs, £1 ; second, 15a. These tickets will be obtainable at the stations mentioned on April 6, 7 and 8, and be good for the return trip from Dunedin to April 17. To accommodate visitors to the Exhibition excursion tickets will be issued on April 6, 7 and 8, available for returning from Ohristehuroh to April 17, at the following places, according to tho rates named :— lnvercargill, Edendale, Gore, Tapanui, Clinton— first-class, £2 10s j second, £1 15s. Dunedin, Palmerston and Oamaru— first class, £1 Ks; second, £1. Whilo tbe Exhibition is open single-fare tickets issued at any Canterbury station w_l be available for tbe journey to and from Chriatehurch aa ordinary return tickets, and on the North Line tho privilege will refer to Papanui as well as Christchurch. For the opening day a liberal time-table has been prepared. Trains will leave Tirxaru, and a'l stations north of that place, in timo to bring passengers to Christchurch so as to be present at the opening ceremony. A train will start from Timaru at 5 a.m., in lieu of the ordinary 7.80 train. Extra trains will run during the oarly part of the day on the Bouth Line between Ashburton and Chrißtchureh, and on the Northern Lino between Bangiora, Kaiapoi and Chriatehurch. In the evening there will be -a late South train to Timaru, leaving shortly after 8 p.m, and thoro will alao be late trains run on tho Southbridge branch and the main north line to Amberley. On the Lyttelton-Christchurch Line the time-table will bo suspended throughout the day, and trains will run as required, with a late train at night. To euit thoso who wish to be present at tbe races, race trains will run to thecourse aa uaual, with tho addition of a special train leaving Addington at 12 30 p.m. To i prevent undue crowding at the Addington Huu way Station a booking cilice will be opened on tho Exhibition ground, at which tickets '■Till bo procurable, qualif.i ing tho holder to his p.issogo in tho train and admission to the courso and Grand Stand. Theso tickots will be available for roturning to Christchurch in tho evening. Wo know that tho proof of the pudding lies in tho eating, and the test of the complelcneFs of tho arrangoments which have boon mado to moot the exigencies of tho caso will he apparent when iho passengers crowd tlie traiLß on tho Exhibition opening day ; but in the meantime it may bo said that Mr Back and the railway authorities generally, havo left nothing undono that could possibly conduce to tho goneral convenience of the P'lhliu on a day whon no doubt the patienoe of railway officials will bo taxed to the uttermoot.
