Oumming, brewer, was fined £120 (?) in all; Field, a publican, 20s ; and Campbell, a publican, ls ; the casks being stamped when they left Brown and Campbell's brewery. Very ColdMr Thwaites addressed the City North electors. He said he would act independently and as the working men's representative. A vote of confidence waß carried, but only a fraction of the meeting voted. Nipped in the Bud. Three prisoners made an attempt to escape from Mount Eden Gaol, but were captured before they got clear of the premiees. WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. Another Branch. The New Zealand Shipping Company have opened a branch in Liverpool, and the following vessels bave already sailed from that port under their flag :— Alcestes for Wellington and Auckland, Himalaya for Otago, Looh Ken for Lyttelton. It is intended by the Company to establish a regular line from Liverpool to the principal ports of the Colony. TIMARU, Not. 25. Evidences of a Catastrophe. There is little doubt now that some vessel has been wrecked south of Timaru. A constable was Bent out thiß morning, and found the beach from six to fifteen miles south of Timaru strewn with wreckage. Part of the bulwarks, painted pea green, was picked up. The vessel is supposed to be one of some 50 or 60 tons. The wood was freshly painted. A Hallite. Mr D. Anderson, a candidate for Gladstone, received a vote of confidence at Kerrytown last night. He expressed himself iv support of the HaU Ministry. DUNEDIN, Not. 25. A Sweet Lot. At a meeting to-day, it was decided to form a company for making jam and preserving fruit. The shares in the company are limited to 15, at £400 (?) each. Thirteen were taken up, but as the applicants for the remainder were non-consumers, it was agreed they should not be allotted to them. Suitable modern plant from a neighbouring Oolony has been offered to the Conmany.
