We stated yesterday that the 260,000 acres referred to by the Honorable John Hall bb having been offered to and reserved for the Natives at Parihaka, comprehended the lands reserved for the Native people all over the Oolony ; tbia we find is an error. On referring to the third report of the West Ooast Commission, we find a statement of " Reserves made and promised " in Taranaka 130,077 acres ; these comprise reserves round New Plymouth, reserves south of the Waingongoro in the Patea district ; reserves required by cession on taJcoha ; and the blocks restored to the tribes ; also compensation blocks amounting to 28,685 acres to different tribes in different localities ; also awards of Oonrt and Government awards still 'to be allocated 39,255 acres ; to fulfil tbe promises of former Governments 25,300 acres ; making a total — ■ "excluaive of the provision for Te Whiti and tbe Paribaka people (25,000 acres) of 237,820 aores." Tho Premier had been speaking of Te Whiti ; of the "solemn warning" given to bim by the Government ; of how be Btill " resisted," and then be passed on to consider the liberal offers made to him — Te Whiti — whioh were stated to comprehend 260,000 acres — that being all the reserves of every description in Taranaki — of the value of about one million of money. The actual reserves proposed by the Commission for the people of Parihaka being 25,000 acres of which some three or fonr thousand aereß are witbin tbe circle of the nine miles radius round Mount Egmont.
