A HORRIBLE SUICIDE.

AUCKLAND, August 18,
The suicide of Arthur Craig, at Church Hill, was a very determined one. About half-past two on Monday morning the neighbours wc:tv alarmed by the screaminc of
deceased's young children, and an alarm of fire. On entering the house they found that Craig had tied his feet to a Colonial Bofa, on which he was lying, ar.d had set firo to a quantity of tow he had collected upon him. They tried to pnll him from the couch, but he resisted strongly, holding by the wooden bars at the head, so that they broke away with him. He was then got from tne burning couch and laid on the floor, which is even charred where he lay. Craig died at nine o'clock on Monday, before Dr Fdgelow arrived from Hamilton. Deceased waß a widower, having a inairied daughter living in Auckland, and another daughter, 17 years old, living in service at Mr Hell's, Church Kill. Beveral younger children lived with him in his house.
