ST. ALBANS AND MERIVALE.
There was no prize-giving at the main school on breaking up yesterday, owing to the fact that the Committee have decided to award the prizes on the basis of the Inspector's report. Tbe inspection of tho school, as conducted under the new master, is expected to tare place in July next. _At the side Echool, however, the usual prizes were given yesterday. Before distributing tho prizes tho Chairman (the Rev T. FlaTell) paid a well-deeerved compliment to tho teachers of tho school for having passed every child in the recent examinations, and for the admirable discipline which prevailed throughout fche school. After some school songs had been most creditably sung, tbe Chairman presented the folio wing prizes:— First class— Girls : Sarah A'Court, 1 ; Margaret M'Cready, 2 ; Louisa Baker, 3 ; Amy Chainey, 4 ; sewing prize, Eva Ashbolt. Boys : Alfred Bides, 1 ; Arthur Hunt, 2 ; David Simpson, 3 ; Charlie Sfcubbs, 4. Second class.— Girls : Ellen Nimmo, 1. Boys : Charlie Hulls, 1. Third class.— Girls : Minnie Bolt, 1. Boys : Daniel Ward, 1.
