Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (snbjeot to the necessary alterations) as under:— Wednesday, Deo. 15. For the United Kingdom, &o , via Brindisi (for specialty addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean ports, Australian Colonies, &c, Fl* S? p I eBB train *° connect with s.s. Te Anau, at the Bluff, as follows:— Ordinary letters at 7 a.m. books and newspapers at 6 a.m.; registered letters at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14 ; money orders at p.m. on Tuesday, Deo. 14 ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post offloo van, attached to the express train, on Wednesday, Dec. 15. For Kaikoura, per Tui, at 3.20 p.m. ; late fee let. ters, 8.30 p.m. j guards' Tan, 4.5 p.m. train. Thursday, Dec. 6. For Akaroa, per Wanaka, at 7.30 a.m. ; guards' ran must not be used for this mail. For Northern ports, per Eingarooma, at 1.50 p.m. ; lat9 fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p m. train. Friday, Deo. 31. Per. the United Kingdom via fan Frmcisco, as follows : -Money orders and registered letters at 5 p.m. j books and newspapers at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10 p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 1881. Late fee letters may be posted in the guard's van attaohed to the B.SO p.m. train on Saturday, Jan. 1. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, on or about Saturday, Deo. 18. On Faturday, Jan. 1 (Now Tear's Day) all branchej of the Post-office will be closed. Note. -On and after Saturday, Deo. 4, tho Money Order and Savings Bank office will close each Saturday afternoon at two o'clook. The office will open again at half-past six o'clock to receive Saving .Hank deposits only, and will remain open till halfpast eight o'olook. The Sjdeaham Pos^-offioe will opan on Dec. 17.
