QUEENSLAND.
James Tyson, a well-known capitalist, has taken up by selection 15C3 acres on tho Tully River, northward of Card well, and intends to grow sugar. He will employ aborigin&l labour if possible. The new dredge, Octopus, built by Smillie anH Co., Brisbane, will be launched to-day, and is the largest vessel built in the Southern hemisphere. Police Sub-Inspector Fitzgerald reports the discovery of a new river 16 miles north of Cooktown, navigable for some miles.
