ROAD BOARDS.
AVON. A meeting of this Board was held on Monday last ; present — The Chairman and Messrs Flesher, Philpott, and Bligh. — The reports of the Surveyor and Foreman of Works were read and considered. — The Traffic Manager of the Tramway Company saw tho Board relative to putting down a tank at Papanui for watering purposes. Tho Board informed him that they would not place impediments in the way, and suggested that a written application should be made to them. — It being reported to the Board that many properties on tho Edgewaro load were encroaching on the road, the Surveyor wua instructed to givenotico that the Board would require the fences to be put bade to the proper boundaries. — The Surveyor was instructed to havo tho River road formed by the day labour men.— Tho Clork wag instructed to write to the Drainage Board, and state that tho Board is much surprised that no answor has baen returned to their repeated requests that the creek n?nr Mr Dickonson's, and also Homer's drain might be fenced off. — Correspondence was read: — From the Solwyn County Council, relative to pounds in the district. — From the Local Board of Henlth re tannery at Dudley creek. — Prom the Drainage Board relative "to drain j on Cavlton terrace. The Clerk was instructed to write to tho Drainago Board, statin-; that the Board roquest them to fill in the drain. The drain wa3 cut for their own purpoces, and material that would have been available for the purpose in tho neighbourhood had boon carted away to town.— From Mr J. B. Ellman relative to stagnant water on road near his residence The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Ellman that tho Ecurrt considers tho nuisanco complained of arises from artesian water, which should be discontinued or drained into the creek. — Tho Clerk was instructed to write to the Drainage Board re samp at Mr Roach.' a corner. — Accounts to the amount of £71 2s lid were passed and ordered to be paid.— Tho Bosrd then Adjourned.
