LONDON, Oct. 8, Quotations.

Consols, 97|; Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 49s Gd ,• Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 35s 6d ; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 455. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,350,000 quarters.

Australian tallow, best beef, 33s ; best mutton, 355 ; galvanised iron, £17; best Sydney copra, £18. Trade Returns. The Board of Trade returns of imports for the past month amount to £34,250,000, being an increase of £6,500,000 -compared with last year. The exports amounted to £20,000,000, being an increase of £2,625,000. The Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Association report the arrival of the ship Brisbane from Timaru, sailed June 11. Oct. 9.

NotMng Definite.

Nothing definite lias yet transpired with regard to the decision of the Great Powers for a settlement of the Montenegrin question, and the cession of Dulcigno. Ominous. On the strength of a proposal made by England, Admiral Seymour has summoned the other Admirals of the combined fleet to hold a conference. It is reported that detached squadrons are going to the Levant, accompanied by a troopship, to render assistance, taking with them munitions of war and Gatling guns. Disturbed Districts. The counties of Gal way and Mayo, in Ireland have been proclaimed disturbed districts.

It is said that a plot is on foot against the Snltan, and in consequence several arreats have fceen made. It is, however, understood that the Sultan prefers to abdicate .rather than to yield.
