ROAD BOARDS.
AVON. The usual meeting of this Board was held on Monday last ; present — The Chairman and all the members. — The reports of the Surveyor and Foreman of Works were read and con-sidered.—-The Clerk was instructed to advertise notice of meeting to be held re stopping road near Belfast. — Mr Smith saw the Board, and requested that a culvert might be placed across the North road to relieve his paddocks from water. The Surveyor was instructed to have one placed there. — The Clerk was instructed to write to the Telegraph Department, also to the Gras Company, re moving telegraph posts and lamps out to the kerbing recently laid down, us at present they were dangerous to the public. —Letters wevo read — From Mr Hole, complaining of the height of the water in the Styx. Tho Surveyor was instructed to inspect the river and reply to Mr Hoi.;. — From P. Cunningham re watering Papanui road. The Clerk was instructed to reply. — From Messrs Harman and Stevens.— From Mr Harrison re drainage of roads luid out by him. It was reported that tho roads in question were not dedicated. Tho Surveyor was instructed to inspect the driin on the Ma>n road and see if that would give any relief.— Application was received from the Poundkeeper, Heathcote, for permission to pound cattle from the Avon district. The clerk was instructed to reply giving authority, and also to advertise in the papers notification that such authority had been given by the Board.— From Kiccarlon Road Board, relative to formation of portion of boundary, asking if the Board would be willing to pay the half cost of formation. The Clerk was instructed to reply in the affirmative-— From Mr M'Golrick, relative to drainage of his land. The Clerk was directed to inform him that tho Board authorised his clearing out tho ditch heretofore used for drainage at his own expense.—From Board of Health. The Clerk was instructed to reply that it is undesirable that any change should take place. — From tho County Council, re Kapitone creek. The Surveyor was instructed to have tho drain near Cluney's corner cleared out. — Accounts to the amount of £60 17s 9d were passed and ordered to bo paid, and the Board then adjourned.
