The Loch Cree, -which waa here seme two j ears since, is aiill commanded by Cn-tain John Jeoee, and a hearty welcome wns accorded by him to several old frienda and acquaint an oes who fcoorded the voascl on his arrival. The barqae cornea out nnder chaitor to the New Zealand Shipping Company, and brings about 1200 tons of genial merchandise, in addition to 27 steerage passengers, who hare arrived all well. Excellent health wae experienced during the paa. MMge, aad all were undoubtedly very comfortable on board, the vessel has come mto harbonr in splendid order everywhere, and was a picture «f cleanlinesa and neatness about tho decks, Ac* and in the passengers' quarters. Very Juavy weather waa experienced running down the easting, as will be Eeen from the report of the S (sage given below. One lamentable occurrence ppened: On August 11, daring a heavy gale a sea broke aboard, which carried off one of the apprentices, John Bobert Whiter, who was lOBt, it being impoßßlble to save him. The Bame sei nearly carried the aeoond mate away and two of the bands, and when the former recovered himself he aaw the unfortunate boy under lhe vessel's counter. He afc one called ont, and Captain Jones was instantly on deck, but the poor boy was then seen rising on a sei Borae 50 yards astern, and then disappeared. A tremendoualy heavy sea waa running, and the vesael was going 11 knot 3 at the time, so it was utterly impossible to do anything as no boat could be launohed. The poor lad was only on his first voyage, atd was vory mnch liked on board. He b^long-id to Nawbmy, Berkshire, and was 15 years of age. No other casualty happened -during the passage. The Loch Cren entered at the Customs yesterday and will be berthed to-day. The usual notioe to consignees appoars elsewhere.
