\ RBUTEB'S TELEGRAMS.] LONDON, August 31. The All-England. i The matoh which has been arranged between the Australian cricketers and an All England Eleven will commence on Monday, Sept. 6. The English team will be chosen from Lord Harrie, the Hon A. Lyttelton, Messrs W. G. Grace, G. P. Grace, E. M. Grace, A. P. Lucas, P. Perm, A. G. Steel, I. D. Walker, and Barnes, Morley, and Shaw. Bank Charters. A Treasury minute has been issued prescribing rules for the renewal of charters of Colonial Banks. The minute sets forth that such renewal only will be conceded on the basis of a charter modelled by the Government. Wool. At the wool sale to-day 9,200 bales were offered, making a total of 113,300 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale shows an improving tendency. The Australians. The match between the Australians and Eighteen of Hastings was resumed to-day. The Australians went in for their first innings, and were all disposed of for 186 runs. Murdoch was run out after putting together 86. Macdonell was bowled for 42. Sept. 1. j A Vacancy in the Ministry. ! The Right Hon W. P. Adam, First j Commissioner of Public Works and Buildings, has been appointed Governor of Madras. No Compulsion. In the House of Commons a debate took place relating to Africa. The British Government deemed it undesirable to press confederation on that country against strong local opposition. PARIS, August 30. Cleared Out. All the Jesuit schools and otlur establishments in France have now been closed in accordance with the decrees of the French Chambers. The schools had been evacuated by the inmates previous to their being visited by the police for the formal closing. August 31. Satisfactory. Reports coming to hand from the French wine districts are satisfactory, and give promise of a good vintage. ST. PETERSBURG, Sept. 1. Back to the Scabbard. Negotiations have been opened between Russia and China for the purpose of signing a treaty of peace. MELBOURNE, Sept. 1. Sugar Firm. Advices from the Mauritius report the BUgar market firm. A discovery of diamonds is reported to have been made at Inverell. A Black Business. The blacks bave bailed up a station and killed a black boy.
