MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief lost Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under:— Thursday, June 17. For Northern Ports, New South Wales, and Qneensland, per Norfolk, at 7 p.m., The guard's van must not be used for this mail. Saturday, Jnne 19. Por tho United Kingdom, Continents of Europe, and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sand wioh Islands, New South \Vale«, Queensland, Northern Ports of New Zoaland, per Taiaroa, as follows: -Ordinary letters, 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. ; books and liewapapers, at 6 p.m.; money orders, at 4 p.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; guard's van, 8.15 pm. train. This mail will be due iv London on August 3. The next mail for the United Kingdom, na Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), will be oloaed at Christchurch, on July 1, and will be due in London on August 21. . The Post Offices at Christohnrch and Lyttelton will be open every Saturday night, from half past six until a quarter to oigrht o'clock, for the purpose of roooiving Savings Bank deposits only.
