Chiniquy in Auckland. AUCKLAND, Duo. 81. Superintendent Thompson, in accordance with instructions from Wellington, has interviewed Pastor Chiniquy, and his Reception Committee, for the purpose of pointing out the serious responsibility they undertake in adopting any steps likely to disturb the puhlic peace. He also acquainted them that ho was charged with a similar mission to the leaders of tho opposite party. Captain Daldy (tho Chairman of the Committee) replied to Supt. Thompson that they were well aware of tho responsibility they incurred, and they wero perfectly prepared to acoept the consequences. The question was put to Superintendent Thompson as to whether he anticipated any disturbances, and ho roplied that so far as his information at present extended, he had no reason to think that any would occur. j Fatal Accident. A son of Mr William Robinson, the Herald reporter, four years of age, fell off the parapet of tho garden wall, and died in a few hours from suffusion of tho brain. Supposed Drowning, The Rev Abraham Tovey, tho Mahurangr missionary, is believed to have been drowned. The boat and his hat have boen found.
