MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at tho Chief Post Offlco for th.i following places (subject to tho necessary alterations) as under :— "Wednesday, Oct. 22. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, por Southern Cross, at 9.45 a.m. j lato fee letters, 10 a.m. ; guard's van, 10.30 a.m. train. Por Unite.d Kingdom, Continent of Enropo, via Brindisi arid Southampton (for correspondence addroseed by either of thoso routes only), India, China, Africa, Australian Colonies, and OUgo, per Arawata, as followa :— Ordinary letters, 1 p.m.; late fee letters, 1.45 p.m. ; books and newspapers, 12 noon ; money orders, 12 noon ; registered lettors, 12 noon ; guard's vai, 2.40 p.m. train. Por Nelson, Westport, and Qroymouth, per Maori, at 1.50 p.m. j late fee letterd, 2.10 p.m. j guard's van, 2 40 p.m. train. Por Kaikoura and Wellington, per Huia, at 4.15 p.m. ; guard's van must not be used Thursday, Oot. 23. For Northern Ports of Now Zealand, por Albion, at 1.50 p m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. Friday, Oct. 24. For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, via Brindisi and Southampton (for corroapoudonco addressed by either of these routes only), India, China, Africa, and Australian Colonies, &o.,?per express train (to connect with Arawata at BluffJ,|at 7.30 a.m. The mail via Brindisi will be due in London on Deo. 15, and via Southampton on Dec. 22. Note.— On and after Tuesday, Oot. 21, mails will close at Christchurch for Upper Waiau Perry and Hanmer Plums each Tuesday at 6 a.m., and arrive at-Christchurch from those offlcos each Thursday at Bp.m.
