ENGLAND V. COLONIES.
This match was continued on Saturday, H. W. Moore taking tho placa of Leo for England. The weakness of the Euglish bowling was conclusively proved by the big score which tho representatives of the Colonies managed to put together before the last wicket fell. Asliby, Corfe, Secretan, Moore, Morico, and Neilaon, all tried their hands, but runs came very freely, and the fielding, with a fe<f exceptions, was anything but firßt class. J. Fowler and C. Frith were the first to defend the wickets, from the attacks of Ashhy, north end, and Corfe. ITrith made 5, aod was then clean bowled by A'lbby. Turner followed him, Ollivier not having arrived on tho ground. Turner played a merry, hard hitling innings of 21, during the compilation of which he had a life given him in the long field. He was eventually well caught by Ashby off Morice. Ollivier came in to finish his innings, and run 9 came rapidly. The two batsmen were not long in running up the scoro, 200 appearing on the telegraph board before a separation was effected. It came at last, however, as Fowler, who had shortly before given an ea^y chance to niid off, -which was not taken, was well caught off ono of Corfo's by LongJen at longleg. Tho retiring batsman had played in good Blylo for his big score of 95 ; showing good defence and plenty of bitting power, though jerhapa the bowling oppoaedtohim was not of the highest description. With the advent o r E. Cottcrill tho score still mounted up, and when Ollivier was at last howled by a early one from Neihon, he had 51 to his credit. Ifarman, who followed, got runs, the bowling being very poor, but Ashby secured his wiokefc. . Cotterill was well caught by Ashby, and bis 36 included one or two good hits. Fuller slogged away in his usual fashion, juat out of reach oE the field, and the innings eventually closed for 280, to which he had contributed 20. Alpe's long-stopping was quite a featuro in tho mutch, and of the four Dyes in the score, three were tho result of an overthrow. Ihe following is the score : — ENGLAND. First innings ... 86 COLONIES.
