MAIL NOTICES.

Mails closo at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under ; — Saturday, Oct. 18. For Otajro, per Penguin, at 1.50 p.m.; lato fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern ports of New Zealand, per Wauaka, at 7 p.m. j pnard's van must not be used for Wanaka's mails. The next Mails for United Kingdom, Con. tinent of Europo, &c , &c,, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspond enco addressed by either of these routes only) will close at Christchurch on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Tho mail via Brindfsi will he dne in London on Dec. 15, and via Southampton on Dec. 22. Note,— On and after Tuesday, Oct. 21, mails wi'l close at Christchurch for Upper Waiau Forry and Hanmer Plains each Tuesday at 6 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch from those offices each Thursday at Bp.m.
