BRISBANE, Oct. 17. A Black Business. Four miners, at Cavo Creek, were attacked by the blacks. Their tent was ransacked. {SPECIAL.'] MELBOURNE, Oct. 17. Sugar. Java cable advices have been received stating that sugar has advanced 70s per ton during the last three weeks. In London, sugar has advanced 40s during tho last week, and there is a great advance in Franco, where the beet crop is bad. Tho Melbourne market is excited. Sugar is selling at 23s advance. A large business is doing in brandy. The Melbourne Cup. Secundus and Savanaka are rather weaker favourites for the Melbourne Cup; Richmond and Sweetmeat 100 to 8 ; Le Loup is firmer at 100 to 7, and training very satisfactorily. Nellie is a strong favourite for tho Derby.
