THE ODDFELLOWS' HALL.
The promoters of the entertainment at the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday afternoon appear to be very energetic in their efforts to obtain patronage. An air of mystery pervades the project, which has nofc been enlightened by tho pretty show cards distributed all over the town, while the curiosity of the public has been further excited by tho singular terms of tho advertisements announcing the performance. .We are in a position to state, however, that the project owes its origin to a number of fche members of the theatrical profession, who "are desirous of manifesting their appreciation of kindnesses extended to themselves and many acts of a benevolent character fco thoir brethren of the buskin by an unostentatious Ohristchuroh Society, known to the uninitiated as the 0.M.1. A reference to our advertising columns will show that as far as personnel is concerned, such a varied assemblage of talent has never been collected here on a stago beforo. Not only do we find the well-known names of Mr and Mrs Hoskins, Mrs Walter Hill, Miss May, Mr and Mrs Searle, and Mr Towle, but also the entire Victoria Loftns Company, members of the Lingard Company, and last but not least Miss Beatrice and Mr Ogden. Altogether there will be over 100 performers, many of firstolass talent. Not the least attractive will be the contributions of the muoh-canvassed Lof tus Troupe, at present visiting fchis city. The preparation of the programme iB in the hands of a representative Committee of the profession, and will no doubt be found to be varied, entertaining, elevating, and of a character which will not give offence to the most delicate sensibilities. The nahies already mentioned are a sufficient guarantee that the performance will be of the very besfc kind, but when the items aro published, our readers will bo able to judgo for themselves. Tho box plan of the Hall is to bo seen at Mr Montaguo's, High street, and judging by the great demand for tickets, tho plaoo will be crowded on Saturday by an audience auch as it has rarely witnessed.
