'♦■ ■ AVON. The ordinary meeting of the Board wot held on Sepfc. 8; present— The Chairman, Messrs Munro. Philpott and Bligh. Th© Surveyor's reporfc was read and considered. —The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Adorns in reply to his request thafc the Board ore not prepared to do anything in the matte.-. — The Clerk was instructed fco write to Mr F. J. Garrick, informing bim of the decision of the Board with regard to road about which he applied to the Board. Mr Spooner saw the Board relative to water flooding his land. —The Surveyor waß instructed to inspect and see if the St Alban's drain by Mr Dickenson's is, as reported, dangerous to the public, and if bo to request the Drainage Board to fence it.— The Clerk was instructed to draw the attention of the Engineer of the Drainage Board to tbe insufficient size of the cutting on the boundary of tho district to carry the water to the Styx. The Chairman stated that he had interviewed the Selwyn County Council as to the omount allocated for special purposeß.— A letter was read from fche Chairman of the Waimakariri Board of Conservators. The Chairman was requested to wait upon tho Board of Conservators.—A letter was read from Mr Dellow and others relative to drainage of their land. The Clerk was directed to refer them to ths Drainage Board.— A letter was read from the Riccarton Road Board re forming portion of the Boundary road. The Surveyor was instructed to call tenders for same by nexfc meeting. — Mr T. S. Duncan wrote re dedication of roads. The Clerk was instructed lo reply. — Dr Ellis wrote, claiming for damageß to hie brougham, and enclosing account. Th* Clerk was instructed to write and return account, and inform Dr Ellis thafc the Board had no jurisdiction over the road where the brougham was injured. A circular was received from tho Chief Surveyor, enclosing notice issued by Miuister of Crown J ande, relative to removal of survey marks. The Surveyor was instructed to insert a clause in all specifications drawing iho attention of contractors to the mattor. The Clork reported that the notice had been posted in a conspicuous place.— Accounts, to the amount of £145 4s 6d, were passed and ordered to be paid. BICCA-tTON. The ordinary moeting of this Board wa» held on Monday, ofc tho office, Upper Riccarton • present— Messrs Hall (Chairman), Nunweek, Patterson, Stanley" and Boag.— The following correspondence was read :— From the Chief Surveyor, calling tho Board's attontion to the carelessness of contractors and ploughmen in removing and destroying eurvey marks nnd peg?, and enclosing a notico to be posted up in a conspicuous place, stating tha. a penalty of £50 will be inflicted on any person so offending. - From Mr Shand, pointing out the bad stato of the Riccarton Station road. Tho Board directed the Surveyor to mako arrangements for gravelling the road. — From tho chief Surreyor, certifying to the correctness of Messrs Blanchard and. M'lntyro's survey re diversion of road under Public Works Act. — From Meters Duncan and Cottorill enclosing bill of costs re ex-, change and diversion of road through section 24.— From Mr Deans (in reply) stating fchat the rood through section No. 102 wae convoyod to tho Orown, and that it wbb 80 links wide. The Surveyor stated thot the formation of the road wob in hand. — From tho Spreydon Road Board, in reply, etating that a map of their district would be supplied, and requesting one of this district in return. It was resolved to comply with the request. —From tho Secretary fco the Saleyards Company, in reply, admitting that the dirt from fche front pens of tho yards had been swept on the footpath, and thot care would be taken that ifc should nofc occur again. — From the Avon Road Board, requesting tho Board fco contribute one-half tho cost of forming about eight chains of the Boundary road, near the mill-race. It was resolved to comply with the request.— From Meßßrs Boon, Griffiths, Ford, and others, asking the Board fco form full width Turton's rood, from tho coal track to Boou'b gato, 40 chains. It whs resolved to comply with the request, and the Surveyor was directed to invite tenders, returnable on Oct. 13, for forming this road, from the coal track to Witliol's corner, 83 chains. — A circular was received from the Colonial Secretory, enclosing form to be filled up ia accordance with an order of tho House of Representatives, showing the income and expenditure of the Board for tho year ended March 31 last. The Clerk was directed furnish tho return asked for. — Messrs Boag and Stanley reported liaving seen Mr Mayo inroforenc. to tho land required for widening tho Fendaltown road, and that Mr Mayo had promisod to convey to tho Crown sufficient Jand to mako the road 50ft wide opposite to his proporly. It was resolved to accept Mr Mayo's offer with thanks, and the Surveyor was directed to form the road full width on receipt of the deed of dedication.— The Surveyor's report was read and approved, and tho following resolutions were carried :— " That a footpath bo mado on tho south, side of the Fendaltown road, opposite Mr Beaumont's land ; tbat tho footpath on the south side of the Harewood road bo proclaimed & public path • fchat the Surveyor engage a man to impound all stock found straying on the public roads of tho district ; that Mr Deans be asked to givo sufficient land from the unsold portion of section No. 102, to increase the width of tho Fendaltown road by 10ft."— Mr Boag requested permission to lay culverts ocroßß the footpath and water channel on the Fendaltown road opposite his gatewajs. The Surveyor was directed to havo the work done, and to charge Mr Boag with cost of same. — After passing accounts for work dono, &a, tho Board adjourned.
