Mr James Macassey, a candidate for Dunedin, addressed the eloctors laat night, and received a vote of confidence. , He said that if returned he would be in favour of the reconstruction of the present Ministry. There was no truth in the report that in the event of his return, and a new Ministry being formed, he had been offered the post of Attorney-General, which accounted for his opposition to Sir G. Grey. Mr A. H. Ross will be brought out for Eoalyn in the Liberal interest. Mr W. Barron, a candidate for Caversham, received a vote of confidence at South Dune'din last night. He avowed himßelf a supporter of the Government. The report circulated that Mr Macandrew will stand for the City is without foundation. He will contest Port Ohalmors.
