M'LEAN'S JUVENILE TROUBADOURS.

At the Theatre Royal, a great novelty was produced last night in tho drainat c performances of Al'Lean's Juvenile Troubadours, who played " Conrad and Idzetto " ond " Patchwork " with pronounced success. Tho troupe number six— four boys and two girls. Although they are very young, they are all well up in " business," have plenty of confidence, and sing and dance with considerable abiliy. In the first-named piece Conrud was played by Master Parlato with much humour ; Joel Fuller and Jacob Von Wolfstcin were played by Master W. Perman and Master Matthews in aby no means indifferent manner ; Tim Flaherty was most amusingly impersonated by Master M'Lean. Mis 3 Einmelino Pox made a very good Lucy Fuller, and Miss Nina Tullock a very pleasing and arch Lizetto. Tho character songs and dances were vory cleverly given, with an absolute absence of vulgarity, and in excellent time and tune. The voices of the young artists are, of course, quite undeveloped, but they contrivo to impart much expression to their songs and are careful to let the words be distinctly heard. In the second piece, Master M'Lean was Joseph Montgomery Spout, Master W. Perman was Peter Tennjson Swinbourno M'Closky Short, Master Parlato was Strathmore Callingbrain, Miss Nina Tulloch was Anastasia Janauscheck Grub, and Miss Emincline Fox was Batty Rietori Spider. 'Jho piece was played with great spirit, the fun being kept up without a single pause. What no doubt considerably increases tho zest of the spectators, is the evident enjoyment which the performers themselves derive from their efforts. The Juvenile Dramatic Troubadours cannot fail to make themselves popular in Christchurch.
