'*' [special.] ■• ' " July 27. | ' A man named Varcoe attempted to steal an axe the other day. On being arrested he. remarked tbat the Scriptures said, " Ask and: ye Bhall receive," and on this he grounded his claim to the axo. When brought up at the j Polioe Court yesterday he said that the j Scriptures had led him to do tho deed, and 1 the ministers told him to do it. As the' Magistrate did not full in with his views, he i ordered a medical examination. i The Wyndham ploughing match on Friday was a great success, although tho weather was 'miserable.
