Maila cloee at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under j— Wednesday, July 23. For Northern ports, per Arawata, at 1-50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 pin.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Wakatipn. Thursday, July 24. For Australian Colonies, per express train to Port Chalmers (to connect with s.s. Tararua) at 7.30 a.m. For Kaifeoura and Northern ports. perHuia, at 4.45 p.m. The late letter-box, guard's van, must not be used for this mail. The next malls for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed letters onlr), will be closed at Christchurch on July 23. The mail via Brindisi will be dne n London on Sept. 22, and the mail via Southampton on Bopt. 29. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will be closed at Christchurch on August 15, and will be due in London on Sept. 30. Note.— As the tr*in which leaves Sheffield for Christchuroh on {Wednesdays and Saturday* at 12.45 p.m. will be discontinued at the end of July, the West Coast mails will, after August 1, leave Sheffield each Wednesday and Satnrdayat 5.5 p.m., and arrive in Christchnrnh at 7.45 p.m.
