PRESENTATION.

On Friday ovening last a valuable liitle presentation was made to Mr E. C. D. Gil mour, of Ricciirton, who is severing his connection with the church choir. The members of the choir decided upon obtaining a piece of plate, and ir : ade choice of a silrer inkstand. The tray has two receptacles for penholders, and two for ink glasses. In the centre is a covered match-holder, abovo which tho handle rises. The glasses are cut and handsomely engraved, and are fitted with hinged silver lids. Aa a whole, the inkstand is of simple design, massive looking, and yet elegant. It bears the following inscription : — " Presented to Mr E. C. D. Gilmour, by the members of the Riccarton Choii*, April 8, 1879." The inkstand was obtained from the establishment of Messra Coatee and Co., Colombo street.
