THE REV McNAMARA.

• Wo have had fche pleasure of inspecting an unusually fine speoimen of illuminating, designed and executed by Mr F. Fast, of the Lyttelton Times lithographic stuff. Ifc ia an address which was presented to the Rev Father MoNamara, now in Wellington, on fche occasion of his leaving Chriatchuroh, and the substance has been already published in cur columns. The addresa hi written in a modified church text, wifch richly illuminated capitals, and division and terminal linos. It is incloaod within a massive border, of which tho broader part is on the loft side. The design, which nos been adapted from modiroval oxamples, is well balanced, and tho advantage of rich colouring has nofc beon lost eight of. In fche upper parfc of the broad bordor is the principal capital of the text; at the lower ond is a Sanel filled in with a pretty water colour rawing of the Catholio Church, Barbadoes streefc, and in fche centre is the monogram of ■ the Society of Mary, with which the Rev Father MoNamara was intimately connected. The intermediate spaces are filled in with flowing conventional foliage, tho prevailing colours being gradationß of crimson and bluo, wifch violets, greens, and gilded silver for enriching the effect. Gold leaf has been laid on wherever that metal haß been required, but aluminium hasboon wisely uaed instead of silvor loaf, which bo speedily tarnishes. Tho lower border consists of the rose, shamrock and thistle, conventionally treated. The illuminated address is enclosed in an appropriate frame, and forms a handsome and valuable memento.
