ACCIDENTS.
A sod accident happened to a gentleman named Samuel William Brown, an architect and engineer, reaiding in Ashburton, on Good Friday. Whilst driving in a one-horse buggy wifch a Misa Watson, tlie horse took fright and bolted. The occupants were thrown oufc, and Mr Brown was found to have been killed on the spot, by the fall. The lady was unhurt beyond having sustained a few bruises. An inquest was held en fche body, on Saturday, a report of which will be found in another column.
On Wednesday laat, Mr T. Hardcaatle, of Pleasant Valley, near Goraldine, met with an accident whilo driving a mob of cattle. One of them, a wild 3yr eld steer, rushed him, and caught him with one horn inside fche thigh, inflicting a nasty wound about four inches long and an inoh deep. The same steer then charged Mr G. Meredith, afcriking him fair in the cheat, and knocking him down, bufc fortunately it did nob injure him.
