A Danish sailor, named Jappar Johnson, was drowned last nighfc afc Port Chalmers. The deceased, in company with two of his shipmates, named Biermgist and Frederick Golder, went alongside the barque Fredericka and Carolina, afc ten p.m., for the purpose of visiting some of their countrymen, and they wont on board leaving Johnson to follow. They had, however, barely gained fche deck when they heard cries for help, and taking to their boat again they discovered that Johnson was missing. Every effort was made by fchem fco recover fche body, but without avail, and, after spending fully threo hours in the search, they returned to their vesael and reported the occurrence.
