HEREFORD STREET BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.

The eighth annniversary of the above school was held last evening, when 300 sat down to tea. After the table 9 were cleared a public meeting was held, and presided over by the Rev. C. Dalla.ston, pastor of the church. After a hymn hacfbeeu sung by those present, and prayer offered b*y the Key. J. White, the Chairman in a few appropri^^ remarks introduced the business of the meeting. The Secretary's report stated lhafc the number of scholars now on the books was 90 boys and 100 girls, with an average attendance of 52 boys and 74 girls, total 126 ; that during the year 10 had passed through the waters of baptism, and had joined the church. It was stated that the library contains SOO volumes. The officers elected for the ensuing year are as follow :—Superintendent, James C. Chidgey; Secretary, T. B. Peto ; Treasurer, T. Chivers ; Librarian, A. Mander ; Delegates, Messrs Chivers and A. Pillow. The Treasurer's report stated that the balance in hand last jear was 2s 9d, which with receipts during tho year showed £29 12s, and the expenditure was £27 11s 9d, leaving a balance of £2 0s 3d. The meeting was also addressed by the Rev. T. Harrington, recently from Wellington, and the Rev. J. White, of Addington. During the evenIng the children sang several pieces, under the conductorship of Mr Chivers, the harmonium being presided over by Mr Hamilton. The meeting seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all present, and was brought to a close by the Benediction, pronounced by the Chairman.
