THE COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAYS.
The many friends of tho Commissioner o£ Railways will bo glad to hear that Mr Conyers writing from Queonstown to a gentleman in Ohristchurch, speaks of his greatly improved health, and rapid approach to convalescence. In compliance with a resolution of tho City Council, tho following letter lias been forwarded to Mrs Conyera by the Town Clerk : —
" Madam, — I have tho honour by direction of tho City Council, to express tho pleasure they feel on being üble to congratulate you on tho recovery of your respeoted husband from his late painful accident. The respect in whioh Mr Oonyers is held in all parts of New Zealand was amply testified by tho largo number of letters and telegrams oxpressivo of sincere sympathy which were daily received by Mrs Oonyers, from North and South, during tho time her husband lay so dangerously ill. Among others, the following telegram received from Sir George Grey will not bo the least pleasing memento to Mr Couycrs and his family of his nearly miraculous restoration to health after so terrible an accident:— "l congratulate you on Mr Conyers being out of danger. I dreaded much tho possible loss of a lire valualike to his family, the publio service, and his very many friends. We all rejoice to hear ho is doing so well. — G. Gbey."
