GAZETTE NOTICES.

* [By Telegraph.] [TIMES' SPECIAL WIEE.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The Gazette to-day contains a proclamation dividing the Borough of West Harbour into four wards, and one amending the boundaries of the Nelson and Canterbury sheep districts ; also the following notices from the Colonial Secretary : — Referring to the notices published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 36, of April 20, 1878, relative to the Australian International Exhibition to be held at Sydney, N.S.W., in August, 1879, it is hereby further notified that the Government of New Zealand will be prepared to receive and forward to Sydney any articles for exhibition which may be prepared by persons resident in this Colony. A Eoyal Commission will be appointed immediately, who will prepare and publish the regulations under which they will receive exhibits for transmission. As articles for exhibition should be shipped from Wellington not later than June next, persons wishing to exhibit are invited to communicate with Dr Hector, the Chairman of the Royal Commission, without delay. All expenses of transmitting and exhibiting approved articles will be defrayed by the Government, but a9 experience has proved that in exhibitions of this kind the best effect is produced by a few well displayed objects of considerable size, and as the space allowed to this Colony for exhibition will be limited, careful selection will be made, so that the representation may be comp'ete. The Collectors of Customs at the various ports have been instructed to receive exhibits — and to forward them to the Chairman of the Exhibition Commission, Wellington, by whom they will be collected and transmitted to Sydney, but no exhibits can be recoived later than June 30. After the Exhibition has closed, exhibits will bo either returned to the exhibitors, free of expense, or sold, or otherwise disposed of in Sydney, at the desire of exhibitors, but the Government undertake no responsibility for loss or damage either in transit or during exhibition, or in regard to the price to be realised if sold ; nor will they guarantee the safe remittance of money. The following is a return of the number of statute adults shipped at Plymouth and Glasgow from July 1 to Nov 30: — For Port Chalmers, 758J ; Bluff, 540 ; Lyttelton, 1872; Wellington, 711*-; Auckland. 525; Napier, 415; Nelson, 67£ ; Westland, 217; Marlborough, 146 ; Taranaki, 10 3i ; Titnaru, 185 ; total, 0961 adults, equal to 7822 souls.
