[special.] Jan. 15. At a meeting of the Bluff Boating Club held Jast night, it was decided to send a crew to compete for the Champion Four-oared jn-ize at the forthcoming Henley Regatta. Burton's Australian Circus is being well patronised. (SVom the Ov;n Correspondent of the Lyttelton Times.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 15.^ The opening of the Amberley-Invercargill line for through traffic has been definitely fixed for Wednesday, Jan. 22. The journey from Dunedin to Invevcargill will occupy six hours and a-half. An express train will leave Dunedin at 9, and another will leave Invercargill at 9.30. They will meet at Clinton at 12.30, where lunch will be served. The express from Dunedin will stop at Milton ancV Clutha. The Waste Lands Board to-day considered the disposal of 21 runs, the leases of which fall in March next. Eighteen are very rough country, and will bo re-leased for pastoral purposes. Three that will carry more than 5000 sheep will be. cut up. Portions of runs 98, Teschemakcr's, and 99, Webster's, amounting to 9000 acres, in the Kawarau district, will be sold as rural land. N All the single girls by the Oamaru were engaged to-day at from £30 to £40 a year. The case of Stewart v. Brogden, an action to recover £600 8s 6d, being the balance due on a railway contract at Mosgiel, which has occupied the Supreme Court three days, was finished to-day. A verdict was given for the amount claimed, which defendant now paid into Court.

Ifc was stated at the University Council meeting yesterday, thafc when the University buildings are completed, which will be at the end of March next, thoy will have cosfc £71,196. Allusion was made to the circumstance thafc the Hon Mr Macandrew and others had thought suitable buildings could be erected for £17,000, while the professorial residences alone had cosfc over £7000. /
