A meeting of the members of the Church of England was held last night to consider whether they would accept Bishop Neville's offer that if the diocese purchased the Littleburn estate of 10 acres he would erect an episcopal residence on it at his own cost ; and it was resolved that, considering the circumstances of the diocese, the offer could not be accepted. Eighty tons of quartz from the Gladstone Company's reef at Arrowtown yielded 3050z5. of gold. A man named Power has been sentenced in the police-court to three months' hard labour for disobeying an order of the Court to contribute to the support of his children in the industrial school. Tapantji, May 10. A fire took place this morning at R. Eliott's, Inglewood. The farm and stables were totally destroyed, and two valuable draught mares were burned to cinders. Harness and other property was also destroyed. The loss is partially covered by insurance in the Victoria office.
