ANNUAL PARISH MEETINGS.
HEATHCOTE. The annual parish meeting was held at S. John's Church, Ferry road, on Friday evening, May 3, the Rev. C. J. Merton, Incumbent, in the chair. The annual report was read and adopted, and the balance-sheet read, showing a small balance after payment of all liabilities, was received subjeofc to audit, the churchwarden having been unable to get the accounts audited owing to the lateness with which some particulars had come to hand. It waa resolved that 200 copies of the balance-sheet be printed for circulation atnonsr the parishioners, and that a foot-note be added, directing attention to the necessity of the church members subscribing liberally towards the new parsonage. The Incumbent nominated Mr J. W. Davis as his churchwarden, the parishioners electing Mr Martindale. Messrs R. Davis. S. Stuckey. Wuson, A. Plavel, H. A. Bamford, E. Garland, Gr. Bonnington, W. Dale, J. Scott and W. Hawker were elected as vestrymen. Mr F. L. Davis was elected auditor. Votes of thankß were passed to the Very Hey. the Dean, Mr T. M. Hassal, and other clergymen and lay readers who had conducted services in the parish during the year, and alto to the organists, choirs, Sunday school teachers, and the ladies who had assisted in obtaining the new harmonium for S. John's Church. At the conclusion of the meeting the Incumbent said that he wished to express his thanfcs to the vestry and also to the parishioners for the kindness he so uniformly reoeived at their hands, and for their hearty co-operation with him in all matters pertaining to the prosperity and peace of the parish. ST. PAULS, PAPANUI. The annual Easter meeting was held in the schoolroom on Thursday, May 2, the Rev F. Q. Brii.tan, incumbent, in the chair. The Chairman reviewed the Church work of the past year, which showed that there had been 28 baptised, 13 buried, 16 confirmed, and 93 communioants. The offertories at St. Paul's Churoh had increased 50 per cent., being £153 Is 9d, as against £101 17s 2d last year. The principal event of the ytar had been the opening of the new church on Dec. 21, which now offered ample accommodation for the requirements of the parish for some time to come. The balance-sheet of accounts was read by the churchwarden, Mr Norman, showing 1 receipts from all sources £565 5s 3d, including a balance from last year of £64 Is 7d, and the expenditure £538 0s 3d, leaving a balance in hand of £27 ss. On the motion of Mr H. Matson, the report was adopted. Mr H. Matson, Treasurer of the Building Fund, laid upon the table a statement of the Church Building Acconut, which, showed that £1855 had buen expended upon the flcst five contracts, and a further sum of nearly £200 would be required to meet. the painting, seating, fencing, and architect's fees. Towards this £837 had been raised in the parish and £750 borrowed upon the personal security of some of the parishioners, leaving about £450 still to be raised. It was suggested that a gift auction should bo held in the sprln.g"far this object. The Incumbent nominated Mr G. Harper as clergyman's warden, after paying a high tribute to the retiring churchwarden, Mr Norman, for the very valuable and oilioient services rendered by him to the parish for the pasf seven y«ars. Mr 0. Dunnage was elected warden for the parishioners, and Messrs Norman, Matson, Joynt, Eldred, H. Brown, Godfrey, Stanley, Q. Durey, Hack, and Johns were appointed vestrymen. Mr E. Morgan was appointed auditor for the ensuing year. Votes of thanks were passed to the various churoli helpers.
