It was very successful, and [ hares were plentiful. In the all-aged stakes , 19 dogs entered. Two courses were run but \ ; "were not decided. Gyp, the winner' of last ''. year's stakes, was put out by Clarence. For the puppy stakes there were 10 entries ; only one course was run. The City Corporation accounts just published show that during the year ending March 31, the Corporation administered funds amounting to £80,376, of which only £29,541 was actual revenue. On the general account during the last six months the sum administered was £37,774, of which only £4390 bus " been spent in streets and footpaths. The revenue of the city has been increased during the year by nearly £1000, the principal items being— £2os2 for Government subsidies, .£llBB from rates, and £328 from rents. . During the half-year ending March 31, the : ; iity debt has been reduced" by £3000.
