Akaroa returned fiom Akaroa this Tho Malay, barque, with a cargo of Tasmanian Sroduce and two passengers, left Hobarb Town on tot. 23 for this port. A vory oxoitlnj 1 raoo took plaoe between tne steamers Otago and Hawea on thoir passage up from Port Ohalmors on Friday and fcnturday. Tho 8.8. Otago loft tho Port Chalmers Wharf at 1.46 p.m„ and tho Hawea at 2 fp m„ tho Otago being about half a mile clear of the Otago Heads when the Hawea got out. Both boats wore put on their mottle, and tho result was, that the Otago arrived in harbour and passed tho point [of the breakwater just four minutes ahead of tho Hawea, tho latter vessel having made up obout 10 minutoa on tho "The s.s. Otago, Captain Calder, from Molbourno, and Hobart Town, arrived on Saturday. Left tho Sandridgo Kailway Pier, ofc noon, Ootober 25 s cleared tho Heads at 2.80 p.m., and experienced flno weather until arriving at Hobart Town, at noon, October 27. Left same day, and had a continuation of flno weather, reaching tho Bluff at 7 tun., Oot. 81. Loft for Port Chalmers Novembor 1, and arrived atG a.m. next day, arriving in harbour ate.lso.rn., on Saturday, having had flno weather along tho Coaafc. Tho Otago discharged^ somo 80 tons of cargo, and sailed for Sydney, via North, at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
