[Fbom thb Pbbss Aobkoy.] Auckland. Nov. 2. THE AUCKLAND MEMBERS. The Reception Committee have decided upon a monster publio ovation in the Theatre Royal to-morrow eveniog. An address will be presented to Sir G. : Grey, and votes of thanks to the Auckland members who sup* pbrted him. The City Council yesterday passed a resolution in favour of „asking'the General Government for the Provinoial Council library, as as the nucleus for a Publio Library. It inoludes about 3000 volumes. ABOLITION ARRANGEMENTS IN AUCKLAND. The General Government have appointed Mr Reader Wood, under the Provincial Appropriation Extension Aet, to sign oheques and documents till the end of the year. Mr Whitaker comes viA Napier and Tauranga to bring Abolition into force. The Synod has appointed a Committee to represent to the General Synod the necessity of improving and enlarging the New Zealand Hymnal. Nambr, Nov. 2. Yesterday being the anniversary ot the separation of tbis distriot from Wellington, it was kept very etriotly as a holiday. The Hawkes Bay Jookey Olub arranged for a spring meeting, and it war held about a oouple of mileS from Farndon railway station. There was a very large attendance. Hokitika, Nov. 2. STRANDTNG OF THE LIZZIE GUY. While the Lioness was towing the Liixie Guy into ; port this morniotr, the tow rope broke and the sohoonor went ashore on the South Spit. It is expected that ehe will get off next tide. The general entries for the Westland raoes close on Nov. 13. Dtobdik, Nov. 2. Large areas of land were disposed of yesterday by the Waste Lands Board. Mr Bastings strongly protested against the conduot of the Board. The Anglican Synod met last night. The Primate in his address referred to the necessity of a supply of ministers, and requested the Synod to make arrangements for seouring a site for the Cathedral at the Theological College. A prosecution under Mr Brodshaw's Female Employment Act has been instituted. Large numbers of postal cards are being sold.

Dtobdik, Not. 2. ABOLITION ARRANGEMENTS IN OTAGO. The hon G. M'Lean arrived to-day by the Government yaoht Hinemoa. He hopes to make arrangements for an early eleotion of the County Oounoils, ao that with as little delay as possible the local administration of affairs, with wbioh they will be empowered to deal, will be placed in their hands. He interviewed Mr Macandrew, and appeared to be satiifled with the result of the interview. It is understood that, in all probability, Mir Macandrew, though he has not yet definitely consented, will aid, so as to bring in the new arrangements with as little confusion as possible. If Mr Macandrew is agreeable, tbe Government will delegate the necessary powers to him to oarry on, until the County Councils are eleoted. He will probably aot, provided I it is distinotly understood that be does so in j the interests of the Provinoe, and that he does not favour Abolition. The County Council elootions are expected to take place by the end of December.
