NARROW ESCAPE OF ANOTHER
TRAINING-SHIP.
Considerable alarm was oausod in Maroh at Falmouth by tho narrow escape tho training* ship Ganges, lying at that port, had of being totally destroyed by firo, It seems that volumes of smoko woro discovered ooming from oloso by tho powder magazine, and on boating to quarters a largo quantity of oanvas was found to bo on firo. By prompt action on tho part of Commandor Woodward, who is in ohargo, it was put out, and all danger was averted. Tho Ganges is a fine oldlinoof-battlo ship of nearly 8600 tons, and is stationed at Falmouth as a training ship for boy» in tho Royal Navy. Sho is attaohod to tho training establishments whioh aro undor tho supervision of Captain W. H. Edyo, of tho Impugnable, throo-deokor, training-ship, stationed at Dovonport, and that offioor proooodod at onoo, in pursuanoo of ordors, to Falmouth to mako a full investigation into tbo affair. Thero seems to bo muoh roason to fc av that sho was deliberately sot firo by ono or moro of tho 500 boys now on board. Captain Edyo has concluded tho investigation, but no information whatever has transpired boyond tho abovo faots.
