At the Criminal Sessions to-day, John Darey, for bestiality, was sentenced to three years' penal servitude) William Gregg, for indecent assault) was found "Not QuUtyj" Thomas Langlsnds, on two indictments for embeulement, three years' imprisonment each sentence concurrently) D. M'Millan, for horse*stealing, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. In the ease of Jenkins, charged with anon, Mr Chapman stated that the depositions- had not yet been filed. His Honor said that the Coroner was guilty of contempt of court, and he therefore considered it his duty to order a rule to issue to the Coroner, calling upon him to Appear on tha following day to show cause why he should not be attached. Bule issued accordingly. In the Beidston manslaughter case, where Andrew Black killed M'Oroy in a fight Bear Oamaru, the Crown Prosecutor said there wm no doubt that it was only in consequence of rery great provocation from- the deceased that prisoner eventually struck the blow. A verdict of " Not Ouilty " was returned. At the Olutha nomination to-day, the show of hands gave— Thomson, 8) Moeely, 10 1 Yoge), 12. Mr Mosely demanded a poll, whioh will be taken on Jan. SO.
