Tho Tamosis having won tho ohoioo of stations, took tho North bank. Both boats gofc away well together, fche Illysauß having tho advantago at tho start by nearly a quarter of a length for aboufc ono hundred yards, when the outrigger string of their stroke broke, and both orows wero stopped in consoquonoo until the damage was made good, when they were onoo more dispatched to a good Btarfc, fche Illyseus again having a Blight advantage at first, whioh, however, was nofc maintained owing to fcho mass of woods fchey had fco onoounter, making anything like- steady rowing a mattor of no small diflloulty. The Tamesis, afc the Fellmongery, had drawn slightly ahead, gradually increasing her lead until rounding the corner at Pratt's, when the Illyssus pufc on a strong spurt and drew oloeer to thoir opponents, who, howovor, maintained (heir position, winning by a clear length. Both orewa pulled pluokily and well, but number two in tho losing boafc did not appear to work with anything like the energy necessary fco support the efforts of the other members of tho orow.
