The* Harbour Board haa resolved to build two additional .D'S to the west. Bide of the wharf. Gbahamstown, Sept. 22. The engine, battery, and plant of the once famous Shotover mine was submitted at the hammer to-day, and all sold but the battery. Ifc is expected that the claim will be amalgamated wifch some neighbouring miners. Letters are published to-day in the Thames Advertiser from Tarapipi and others, stating that the Piako river is closed for the future to steam launches. The Advertiser advises the owner of tho steamer fco proceed on hia trip as usual. A banquet to Mr Sheehan takes place tonight. Dunedin, Sept. 22. A movement is on foot here to establish a marine store and piggery company on a large scale for the purpose of turning into money the immense quantity of refuse annually wasted. The Pakeha, brig, and United Brothers, schooner, from Oamaru, have just put in for shelter, having loßt their anchors.
