The ship Miltiades, when coming up the channel, grounded on a sand bank, four miles beyond the place where tho Anatore went ashore. The steamer Lady Bowen, observing l<er position, towed her off without damage. Tho s.b. Cyphrenes, sailed for the'Southafc 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Wellington, July 24. Afc a meeting of the Wellington City Council last night, it was resolved that all the streets in the city Bhall be formed and constructed without delay, and that a preliminary sum of £20,CD0 be raised by debentures or loan. It was stated to be the public with, that the rates should not be lowered as proposed, but increased, for the purpose of carrying out further city improvements.
