Monday, Apbil 20. (Before J. T. Rouse, Esq. and his Worship the Mayor.) Dbunk and Disobdebly.— W. Yelverfcon and P. Mulchey were charged with this offence. Constable Wallace said he found fche accused drunk and fighting in the streets on Sunday morning. Mulchey, in his presence, knocked Yelverfcon down, and on his separating them, Yelverton caught hold of the tail of his tunic and tore it. On locking up Mulchey, and trying to search him, he became most violent and entirely destroyed his tunic ; the value was £3. Mr G. Horsfield said that some one knocked his hat off on Norwich Quay. A witness named Roder gave evidence that Yelverton was the oifender. The Bench said that as there had been several convictions against Yelverton, he would be sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour. *■ Mulchey would have to pay a fine of 10a, and £3 for destroying the tunic of the constable. Deseetion. — Two seamen named Millet and Wilson, belonging to the ship Portland, were brought up on this' charge. . Constable Sadler said he saw the accused land in a boat at an early hour on Monday morning, and followed them. They tried to elude him, but he called on them to stop, which they did. He then asked them where they had come from. They replied that they had deserted. He arrested them. Captain Smith eaid the accused were two of his men. He was informed by his chief officer tbat fche accused and another man had deserted in one of the boats. He sent a boat in pursuit, but the men got ashore first and sent the boat adrift. Sergeantmajor O'Grady said there was another charge against Wilson for larceny, and asked for a remand. Tho Bench said the accused would be sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment with hard labour. Wilson was remanded.
