ARCHERY.

In the early part of the month the Canbury Archery Club shot a match against c Thornton Club, Wellington, which, as mifc hare been expected, resulted in a victoryv the latter. The Canterbury Club is mh younger than the Wellington, added to wlh it was deprived of the services of two *y reliable shots on the day of the match, ty being unavoidably prevented from shoot;. Though defeated in the match, however^e Canterbury Club ■ have the credit of 10 highest individual score being made by orof its representatives — Mr Condell — who ofc remarkably well throughout. The conditis were eight ladies and four gentlemen on eh side, the ladies to shoot at 60 and 50 yas, with three dozen arrows at each distan ; the gentlemen at 80 and 60 yards with le same number of arrows at each distance, he targets to be four feet in diameter, and le scoring to be — gold, 9 ; red, 7 • blue, > • black, 3 ; white 1 ; hits, 1 each.
